When my grand mother was a little girl she lived in Sweden, she would wait for her sister to come home. She sometimes waited hours for her sister to come home.
My multidisciplinary practice primarily focuses on performance and installation, tackling environmental issues and human rights that impact us both regionally and globally. I encourage public participation through story-sharing and collaboration with fellow artists.
My projects evolve over time, informed by audience interactions and responses to questions. I create costumes and objects from materials like drier lint, fabric, hangers, yarn, wax, and wire, utilizing video, photography, sound, and social media as mediums.
I conduct workshops that promote upcycling and foster human interactions, and I perform participatory walks globally through Twitter. My presentations blend walks, movement, dance, voice, and improvisation with prepared text based on gathered information.
Originally from Switzerland, I have lived in NYC since 1985. Follow me on Instagram @dancingalonewithmyshadow @mck_workinprogress @letstakeawalk_world @mcayer27 and Twitter @mcayer.
